Ever wondered what keeps the enormous ships of today from rolling? Our brand-new device demonstrates an unusually practical application of angular momentum. The sturdy ABS "ship" (8 x 8") has two runners that allow it to rock easily. The included gyroscope has a 3- 1/2" plastic rim and a heavy metal wheel (2" diameter) mounted on a low-friction shaft. The gyroscope can be set spinning and positioned to either enhance or dampen the roll of the "ship".
The effect can be quantified by counting the number of rolls with and without the active gyroscope. Includes ship and gyroscope. With instructions.
